Present at his passing are Olivia, Dhani, Ravi Shankar, Ravi's wife Sukanya and daughter Anoushka, and Hare Krishna devotees Shyamasundar Das and Mukunda Goswami. He was a brave, beautiful soul, full of love, childlike humour and a deep spirituality."

Dec 3 2001 In memory of George, a candlelight vigil is held in Liverpool. Students from George's former school, Dovedale, plant a tree in the Peace Garden behind St. George's Hall. A few feet away stands an English oak that had been planted two years ago in memory of John.

Several million pounds are to be donated to unspecified charities. 10% will go to the Hare Krishna faith, including Bhaktivedanta Manor, the Hertfordshire mansion George donated to ISKCON in 1973. £701,000 (about $1 million) is to go toward building a temple in Varanasi, India. The Radha Krishna Chandra Temple will be spread over two acres of land, and will be built over the next five years.

An LAPD spokesman stated that high-profile people often report a false address as place of death to avoid it becoming a shrine or a stop on Grave Line Tours. The residential area could also be besieged by souvenir hunters who might cause property damage. The spokesman also said that, unless there is an intent to defraud, such matters are usually dropped.
